Death of Pedestrian Near Campus Reminds of Need for Awareness

March 19, 2013 — 10:42 a.m.

We learned this morning that overnight a pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross Valley View Street at Cypress College Drive —the main entrance to the campus.

While the victim has no apparent ties to the college community, the tragic incident is a reminder of the need to be aware and cautious when crossing the road —be it a major thoroughfare such as Valley View, or a small one like College Circle Drive.

Likewise, it's important to be aware of our surroundings while driving.

The accident happened about 11 p.m. last night, and police ask that anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the accident, please contact the Cypress Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau at (714) 229-6634. Additional information is available from the Cypress P.D.
